Well it seems the Hard Drive crash wasn't too bad after all. Yeah, it made windows crash real badly when trying to start up. But i have managed to claim all my files off it. I will reformat it and use it as a second drive.
So it is not all bad. Only i am not feeling well at the moment, so fixing up my stuff is very hard. Also, i cannot find where the heck my Office disks are hiding. I even left them in the fancy plastic box as well.
So now it is time for bed. I hope to wake up bright as a bunny rabbit on a cold and frosty morn.
G'night all.

Bad Error on release
Well A Shooter has of course been out now for 3 days. In that time i have managed to get quite befuddled as to why it only manages to generate 3 stars of rating. Also why the conversion rate is so low for one of my games.
I know some people will think i am just full of it, and they are entitled to their opinion. However i take along time over my games, i also take a very long time researching and implementing things that people will like in a trial. so far i have done very well. Till this game.
I was baffled. and then it came to light thanks to several people on my twitter list. It seems the main issue is that people were not finding the powerups, and as that is Very central to my trial experience, it is no wonder people are turned off. Without collecting those powerups, you will die. It is as simple as that. also when you start my game you have a very short firepower, and then whammo 15 seconds later it is powered up to twice it's length, also with more fire speed added.
so without all that it is bad news for me. I know i won't really get a second chance at this, but i hope that myu competition will keep enough people interested until a patch can be released. I have it mostly finished now, i am just making a few minor adjustements and a few bug fixes etc.
If only i had known what i know now. It is not like anyone came up with this issue while in playtest or all my focus testing.
DOH!

Pride
Tonight i was gonna post about soemthing i really want to do for my next game. But instead it has been a day where i have received a few mentions. the first comes from someone who does a blog that i read. I like his opinions and thoughtful approach to writing. So when he posts such a nice paragraph on me, it makes me blush but also feel very proud. If nothing else i try very hard at what i do and it is good whe someone else notices.

Secondly it was Starcraft 2 launch day today. Just in case you haven't noticed or ben under a rock. Well back in the day my team at Mass Media were given the arduous task of converting starcraft 1, PLUS Brood Wars to the N64. Noone thought it was possible except us i believe. the whole team was madly in love with Starcraft, and we had a good team on Cases ladder back then. So when we got to pitch for the job it was with love, and then we got the job. OMGoodness we were happy. Then the labor of love started. We got it done on time, and with a meagre budget. The thing we were most proud of though was the controls. Everyone said it would suck and not be playable, but we believed we could make it work great. In fact all the reveiws at the time agreed with us. We had shortcuts up the wazoo on that little controller. Modifier keys was the order of the day. We also somehow managed to squeeze the whole of Starcraft and Brood wars into a single cart, though that was a special cart at 64MB. So why i am talking about this? well it is because someone noticed. Nintendo never made enough of these cartridges, and they sold out nearly immediately, however they did not for some reason want to make anotehr run of them. So a year after release it was worth over 130 bucks.
